Sagesse start season with confident steps.
-October 19th, 2008:
Contrary to most expectations, Sagesse held its ground firmly against Champion Al-Ahed last Sunday in the 1st week of the new 2008/2009 national league.
Although losing the game 1-2, most critics and observers wouldn’t expect less than a slaughter, knowing that Champion Al-Ahed has heavily strengthened its ranks and prepared for the season early enough, while Sagesse foreigners were still uncertain and unaccounted for days before the transfer deadline, and the team preparation didn’t start till the very last couple of weeks before the league launch.
4 days later, on Thursday 16th, Sagesse had to face Safa, -Lebanon’s official delegate to the Asian Cup Championship-, and again the Greens were up to the expectation, albeit even higher, and were able to draw the game.
Both games against Ahed and Safa were played on the opponent's home court, giving them a clear advantage.
Sagesse next game will be a tough one, confronting Salam next Sunday on its own home court in Tripoli.
Sagesse tie with Ahli Saida and secure D1 spot.
-June 19, 2008:
By tying the game with Ahli Saida 1-1, Sagesse secured its presence in D1 for next year's league.
The game was almost lost when the referee whistled a 2nd penalty for Ahli Saida, but they missed the opportunity to score the winner.
Sagesse opened the score thanks to Vartan, then Ahli Saida tied with a 1st penalty.
The season's last game will be next Thursday 26th against Irshad. An aimless game for both teams, as Sagesse secured its spot in D1 and Irshad is definitely relegated to D2.
Sagesse end Basketball season and lose semifinal 2-3
-May 26th, 2008:
After coming back to 2-2 and tying the semifinal series against Muttahed, while trailing 0-2 in the first 2 games, Sagesse couldn’t extend its upbeat curve and failed in Tripoli tonight.
For the 4th time in its history within the national league playoffs, Sagesse will be absent from the final series. Thus ends Sagesse journey for this season, but it was a very close call to make it through to the finals.
-Game #1: Muttahed-Sagesse 91-85
-Game #2: Sagesse-Muttahed 63-66
-Game #3: Muttahed-Sagesse 75-89
-Game #4: Sagesse-Muttahed 76-65
-Game #5: Muttahed-Sagesse 80-62
Sagesse lose Arab Championship title to Zain 67-72.
-May 5th, 2008:
Sagesse lost the Arab Championship in the dying seconds of the game when Zain’s John Thomas scored the crucial points and gave the Jordanian team the title.
Contrary to all previsions, Sagesse bravely crossed the path to the finals, eliminating their powerful rival Sporting in a thundering semifinal, proving that Sagesse is heading back to his heydays and more glorious times to come.
Sagesse did immensely benefit from the inestimable added-value of Alfa Bangura who joined the Green roster especially for the Pan-Arab games.
This rem4rkable performance will give Sagesse a tremendous boost for the coming Final 4 games of the Lebanese championship.
