History timeline

1943

-Club Sportif La Sagesse was founded, under the patronage of the late father Boulos Kik, supported by his excellency late Mgr. Jean Maroun.

-First board of directors : Dr Louis Tutunji - Antoine Tehini - Gabriel Droubi - Badih Lahoud - Dr Boutros Moubarak.

 

1944

-Footbal team enters First Division, then back to Divison Two after problems with the Lebanese Federation of Football.

 

1948

-Football team wins 2nd Division championship and gets back to First Division.

 

1950

-Football team relegation to 2nd division.

 

1956

-Football team again wins 2nd Division championship and gets back to First Division.

 

1991

-Football team relegation to 2nd division.

 

1992

-After the much regretted President Henri Asmar passing away, Antoine Choueiry is elected Club President.

-Football team again wins 2nd Division championship and gets back to First Division.

-Creation of the Basketball team.

 

1996

-Sagesse basketball team second in the pan-arab championship.

 

1998

-Sagesse basketball team champion of the pan-arab championship

-Football team relegation to 2nd division.

 

1999

-For the second year in a row, Sagesse win the pan-arab basketball championship.
-Sagesse win the Asian Basketball Championship, a first in the history of Lebanon and the Arab world sports.

-Football team wins 2nd Division championship and gets back to First Division.

 

2000

-For the second year in a row, Sagesse win the Asian Basketball Championship, a feat never achieved before.

 
2004 -Sagesse's new Asian record by winning the Asian Basketball Championship for the 3rd time, becoming Lebanon's first sports competition team to win an international title abroad.
-Following the resignation of President Antoine Choueiry in the summer, a new Management Board is elected in October and judge Joseph Freiha becomes the Club new President.
A new Board of Trustees is created under the Presidency of Henri Chalhoub
 

2006

-A new Management Board was elected on the morning of Sunday February 19th, 2006 by 91 voters during the Club's General Assembly.
Henri Chalhoub is elected President of the Club.
